About the Role
Junior Electrical Design Engineer
Fully Remote/Office Optional (Commutable from London) | £35,000-40,000 + Bens
You’ll take your electrical design skills to the next level with hands-on experience, structured training and exposure to major projects – all while working remotely with flexible hours that fit around your life.
You can go to the office if you like for the atmosphere or wait for one of their several planned get-togethers!
You’ll work on a wide range of projects across, including but not limited to healthcare, commercial offices and data centres, giving you continuous technical challenges and professional development.
You’ll get direct access to Tier 1 contractors through framework agreements, which means exposure to high-profile work and leading industry players.
Learning and progression are built in. You’ll get CIBSE-accredited CPD sessions, weekly training and team meetings. There’s a two-year development plan mapped out from the start, with milestones at 3, 12 and 24 months to keep your career on track.
You’ll also gain experience through site visits, surveys and commercial involvement in fee proposals, forecasting and resource scheduling.
You’ll have plenty of opportunities to step up and take on more responsibility.
What you’ll do
In the early months, you'll produce power and lighting layouts using CAD and Revit, while running DIALux/Relux calculations and populating lighting schedules. Then you’ll carry out LV design calculations (current load, volt drop, adiabatic) and assist with specifications and technical reports (RIBA stages 3 and 4).
Once you're really settled, you'll lead electrical model coordination on smaller projects, attend site visits (including snagging and intrusive surveys) and take technical meeting minutes.
You’ll also run smaller projects or electrical packages from start to finish with oversight and contribute to strategies like discrimination, arc-flash and surge protection. Mentor placement students and graduates, too (when you're ready).
What you’ll need
- Experience with AutoCAD (Revit is a plus)
- A solid understanding of BS7671
- Amtech or Electrical OM
- UK Building Services Design experience from a consultancy
